1. Sunflower oil oil purification flowchart:

Usually there are two kinds of edible oil refining method,chemical oi refining and physical oil refining.

Oil refinery plant refers to a series of refining processes that can remove phospholipids, FFA, pigment, off-flavor and other impurities in the oil. Edible oil refinery or vegetable oil refinery is essential to ensure removal of gums, waxes, phosphatides and free fatty acid (F. F.A.) from the oil. To impart uniform colorby removal of coloring pigments and to get rid of unpleasant smell from the oil by removal of odiferous matter.

The purpose of oil refining:

To make edible oil meet people’s edible,and to remove the impurities in the crude oil.

There is much impuries in crude oil,such as phosphatides,oxidized product,gums,free fatty acids,colour bodies,trace metals,water,hydrocarbons,solvents,polymerized product.

3. Sunflower oil oil purification refinery process:

Step 1.Degumming with water to remove the easily hydratable phospholipids and metals.

Step 2.Addition of a small amount of phosphoric or citric acid to convert the remaining non-hydralable phospholipids (Ca, Mg salts) into hydratable phospholipids.

Step 3.Neutralising of the free fatty acids with a slight excess of sodium hydroxide solution, followed by the washing out of soaps and hydrated phospholipids.

Step 4.Bleaching with natural or acid-activated clay minerals to adsorb colouring components and to decompose hydroperoxides.

Step 5.Deodorising to remove volatile components, mainly aldehydes and ketones, with low threshold values for detection by taste or smell. Deodorisation is essentially a steam distillation process carried out at low pressures (2-6 mbar) and elevated temperatures (180-220°C).
